Clixy123's Best blog widgets
blogrush widget
This is like BlogCatalog's Discussion pages, but then it's really ongoing. Updated fresh continually. The great thing about this widget is that you can filter out some categories. For instance, if you do not want to read about US mortgages, you can indicate this in your settings page. I hope next these guys are going to create a favored categories option too. PLUS I wish they'd create html only scripts so I could put it on my wordpress blog!
disclosurepolicy
To have a disclosure policy on your blog might be a good idea because your readers will know exactly what they're in for. If you write sponsored posts, it's good to at least read the guidelines to know what kind of ballpark most people consider this business to be in and what fair rules are. It's invented by Pay Per Post and initially there were many scathing reports in the pro blogger press about it, but I think that was ridiculous. PPP definitely fills a gap that's left blanc by the others.
swikis
Search engine widget. You pick a tag from a tag cloud and create the swiki for on your site. users can either find items listed in the tag cloud or search within the specified terms. Long tail for search engines, which allows you hyper precision!
twitter stack
Widget by AFcomponents on widgetbox. It's a nifty device that allows yo to see your Twitter messages in 3D! Watch it here. You didn't know what Twitter is all about? It's a social microblogging tool on which you type telegraph style answers to the question 'What Are You Doing?" and see your friends do the same. It's fun because it allows you to know what your friends are up to in real time. So next time you meet up with them, you know what their mood is like.
There are a few competing sites for Twitter and the widgets around it are many, but this is one of the most useful clients to have. It's three dimensional and makes Twittering even more exciting.
This Day In History Widget
This widget is fun. You can find them everywhere; on widgetbox, in specialist Wordpress plugin sites. It's a kind of issue most people read because it's interesting to know what went on on this day centuries, sometimes millennia ago.
Most entries will read "Today in 1786, the German Industrial revolutionary hero XYZ called the first strike in history. Also on this day, bla bla bla".
You get it. Stuff you read out of interest.
