This ranking isn't one of the easiest to make. Many can answer this question with thier favorite groups which could indeed fall into any of thousands of different music genres around the world. But the fact remains that their answers are based on their opinions as well as their backgrounds, their countries, and other little facts on there.

Here I have choosen musicians, most of which I rarely listen to. However, they have all had a big effect on music and on the world. These aren't just my "favorite" musicians (that has to be saved for another day, but something a little more meaningful then that.

Ray Charles

Ray Charles is one of those people who affect music in a big way and did it with a smile. He mixed a number of genres that weren't mixed in his day including the sounds of R&B with Gospel and Country sounds. Not only did he do wonderful things with his music he did it all while blind.

Elvis Presley

Known as the King of Rock 'n' Roll his rebel attitude changed music forever and still stands as a monument to change. His music is remember by those who loved and listened to him in the 50's, but even those not to be born for years and years can sing parts of "Nothing But a Hound Dog" and other songs of Elivis Presley's that will go down in history for many years to come.

Billie Holiday

Few remember Billie Holiday, but her music affected the world in a way few can even begin to realize. In an era where black men and women didn't sing in front of white audiences, Billie stood before them all, in the north and the south. She brought to the stage controversial pieces such as "Strange Fruit" which described lynchings, and impacted many that heard her music.

Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan is another one of those legendary sounds that mixes it all up. Known for mixing the sounds of folk, country, blues, and rock he has opened the doors for creative artists to have a little fun. He has even done duos with varied artistis such as Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, and The Greatful Dead.

Beethoven

Many classical musicians and composers are still played today, however Beethoven stands above the others as one of the most recognized composer. But in addition to being well recognized he is also amazing in that he did it all while being deaf.

The Beatles

"We're bigger then Jesus" (John Lennon). The Beatles tore through history and affected pop music as few others have. They left their mark on the world and had so many hits that they can't even be mentioned.

Rank it

The Rolling Stones

Offering a different sound then other rock groups at the time, the Rolling Stones have gone down in history offering change and a deeper heavier rock. They opened the door to heavier sounds that soon followed.

Big and Rich

Big and Rich are a modern music changer. They don't stand alone in changing music as we know it. Their creation was the Music Mafia a group of country music artists who incorporate the sounds of rock, and even rap, into their music. Big and Rich stand at the top with wonderful sounds of fun and exciting music, as well as serious and touching songs that can change the lives of others.

Rank it

POD

Heavy metel sounds can be found with POD, but they stand unique. Not only do they incorporate the sounds of regge, hip hop, and jazz into their heavy metel, grunge sound, but they also stand firm with a Christian message. They have refused to enter the Christian music circut and continue to take their message to the masses by opening for large well known groups and musicians including Ozzy. Signed with Atlantic Records they have a message, passion, and have made it fairly big in the big bad world.
